I haven’t blogged for a while because I’ve been having a lovely time with my sister and family in Basel, Switzerland!
(Also people are moaning I blog too much code and not enough Daddy, so 1. Soz for the last boring post and 2. hopefully this and the next blogs make up for it!)
Getting there
First time on a plane went much better than we imagined! Thanks to BA and their generous baggage allowance for infants, we were able to take our buggy and car seat in addition to our normal luggage.
I would definitely recommend getting a buggy case (if you have a Bugaboo Bee or Chameleon, the Bugaboo case is amazing, try and find it 2nd hand- we got ours for £40).
It was only a 75 minute flight and we managed to contain any tantrums before having a last minute doze! Phew.
Oh and we saw Jimmy Carr on our flight!
Lots of Cuddles
It was great seeing my Sis, Bro-in-law, niece and nephew! Zeffie loved all the attention too!
Fasnacht Fun
We were lucky to be there in time for the Allschwiler Fasnacht!
A smaller (and less crowded) Carnival before the much larger Basler Fasnacht next week (biggest carnival in Switzerland! See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnival_of_Basel) – residents of Allschwil spend all year creating masks and floats for the day parade! With buckets of sweets, oranges and confetti, they happily throw all 3 out onto the expectant crowds (much to the children’s delight!) whilst small bands of drums and flutes play their hearts out!
Much fun was had… for about an hour until baba got hungry and we’d filled our pockets with confetti. I’m still finding bits now…
Picasso!
Basel is known for it’s art and museums and we love a bit of Picasso, so luck would have it that a special Picasso exhibition was being shown in the Foundation Beyeler: More info
Farewell Switzerland
And then sadly it was time to leave, not without forgetting a cheeky 5 Month group photo first of course!

A much needed sleep on the flight back was needed all round!
